Description
This bull elk is bugling during the elk rut at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park, United States.
The buildings behind him are some of the original buildings that were built between 1891 and 1913, known as Officers Row. Fort Yellowstone was established in 1891, after the administration of the park changed from the Interior Department to the War Department in 1886. In 1918 the administration was finally transferred to the newly created National Park Service. Of the sixty structures built at Fort Yellowstone during the U.S. Army administration, approximately 35 buildings remain today.
